What is an Arabic calligraphy generator?
An Arabic calligraphy generator (مولد الخط العربي) shows the Arabic you type in fonts based on the classic calligraphy styles, so you can see how a word, a name or a greeting looks before you use it on a card, a post, a logo or a print.
This one is also an Arabic font generator. It previews 45 real Arabic fonts side by side — Naskh, Kufi, Ruq'ah, Nastaliq, modern and display styles — and each one is a proper Arabic font, so letters take their correct initial, middle and final forms, لا joins as one shape, and tashkeel sits where it should.
It styles Arabic — it doesn't translate
Type or paste text that is already in Arabic, Persian or Urdu. The tool won't translate English or write your English name in Arabic letters for you. For names, tattoos and anything permanent, ask a fluent reader to check the spelling first.
Fonts, not a calligrapher's hand
A master calligrapher adjusts every letter, stacks words and balances the whole composition by eye. Fonts repeat the same shapes each time. They are perfect for clean designs and quick mock-ups; for a one-of-a-kind Thuluth or Diwani piece, a human calligrapher is still the best choice.

These are the main traditional scripts, and the fonts on this page that come closest to each one. We only list a script as "included" when a real font for it is available.

Kashida: stretching Arabic words the right way
Kashida (كشيدة) is the elongation calligraphers use to lengthen a word and balance a line. On a computer it is made with the tatweel character ـ (U+0640), which draws a short connecting stroke between two joined letters.
Tatweel isn't a real calligrapher's kashida — it's a straight extension, not a curved one — but used in the right places it gives a similar look. This generator only inserts it where the letters genuinely connect:
Where the stretch is added
After a letter that joins to the next one, such as ب س ص ع ف ق ك ل م ه ي. Never after letters that don't connect forward (ا د ذ ر ز و ة ى, and ژ ڈ ڑ ے in Persian and Urdu), never inside the لا ligature, and never between a letter and its tashkeel, so marks stay on their letter.
Your text isn't changed
The stretch is a display setting for the preview and PNG. Copy text always copies exactly what you typed. If you want the stretched version as text, use Copy with tatweel — it appears only when the stretch is on, so you always choose it on purpose.
Persian and Urdu calligraphy
Persian (فارسی) adds پ چ ژ گ, and Urdu (اردو) adds ٹ ڈ ڑ ں ے ھ. Not every Arabic font includes them. We checked each font file, and every card shows the result.
Best for Urdu
Noto Nastaliq Urdu and Gulzar are true Nastaliq fonts. Lateef, Scheherazade New and Harmattan are clear Naskh-style fonts with full Urdu letters.
Best for Persian
Vazirmatn is made for Persian; Amiri, Noto Naskh Arabic, Reem Kufi, Aref Ruqaa and Lalezar include all Persian letters too.
Arabic-only fonts
Amiri Quran, Tajawal and Readex Pro don't include the extra Persian and Urdu letters, Vibes lacks the Urdu ones, and Alkalami and Ruwudu lack some. Missing letters show in a plain fallback font.
Common Arabic font problems, explained
The font disappears when I paste
A font is a display setting, not part of the text. Copying gives you plain Arabic, and WhatsApp, Instagram or Word show it in their own font. Download a PNG to keep the look, or install the free font.
Letters come out separated or backwards
Some design apps don't shape Arabic unless right-to-left support is switched on (in Photoshop, the Middle Eastern text engine). If letters look broken, place a transparent PNG instead of pasting the text.
I typed English and nothing changed
This tool styles text that is already in Arabic script; it doesn't translate or convert English names. Type or paste Arabic, and have a fluent reader check names and tattoo text.
Tashkeel looks crowded
Harakat need extra line height. The preview adds it automatically; if marks still collide, try Amiri, Scheherazade New or Noto Naskh Arabic, which are designed for fully vowelled text.
Numbers jump around
Digits run left-to-right inside right-to-left text, which is correct. Use the Numbers option to show Arabic-Indic ١٢٣, Persian ۱۲۳ or Western 123 digits.
Tattoos and names
Always confirm spelling with a fluent reader before a tattoo, engraving or print. Use a transparent PNG at a large size so your artist gets a clean reference.
